I have never enjoyed speaking about fundraising or money, and thankfully, that has been part of INcontext’s DNA ever since I joined the organisation back in 2011. It has always been a principle for us that we never want to be known as a fundraising organisation.
However, for organisations and ministries like ours, which are completely reliant on donations, it is a very easy line to overstep because you do need people to donate money to survive. But if you put too much focus on the support that you need, then that becomes the first thing people think about when they hear your name, and your actual calling becomes a secondary point. Many ministries and organisations carry a fundraising tag, and some are happy to do so, but it has always been a goal for us to avoid being labelled as such.
It has always been a joy for me to preach at churches and speak at seminars without even mentioning financial support. After all, our calling is to give people a Kingdom perspective on the events happening in the world and how people have the opportunity to partake in that, and that is what I want them to think about at the end of my talk. I have always felt that I don’t want to spoil the message that God gave me to share by speaking about supporting us financially at the end. I just want to share what God called me to share and leave it at that.
Despite our lack of fundraising efforts over the past 15 years, the Lord has truly blessed us in miraculous ways by providing for us in our day-to-day needs. From time to time, however, we have had to ask for support, but we see within Scripture that even Paul had to speak about support occasionally. In 1 Corinthians 9:11, Paul asks the church:
“If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?”
And in Romans 15:25-27, he also refers to the principle of material blessing in exchange for spiritual blessing when he writes:
“25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the Lord’s people there. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem. 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.”
In light of this principle, I want to ask you: if INcontext has blessed you spiritually in any way, are you willing to bless INcontext in return?
If you have been blessed by the ministry of INcontext, I would first like to ask you to please pray for INcontext—not just once, but on a monthly basis. Would you please consider praying for INcontext at least once a month? If you are willing to pray for us more than that, then that is absolutely wonderful, but our request is to do it at least once a month.
Secondly, if you have been spiritually blessed by INcontext, would consider fasting one meal a month for INcontext? Whether you eat one, two, or three meals a day, are you willing to fast one of those meals per month?
Once again, if you are willing to fast more than that—maybe a full day every month—then praise the Lord, but our request to you is for just one meal.
Thirdly, and lastly, if you have been spiritually blessed by INcontext and are willing to pray and fast for us, would you be willing to donate the equivalent amount to the meal you fast to us?
For instance, if the meal that you are fasting would have cost R50.00/$2.50, are you willing to donate that amount to INcontext as a material blessing in exchange for the spiritual blessing you receive from us?
If you approach material giving in this way, it will make no difference to your monthly budget, because if you hadn’t fasted that meal for us, you would have spent that amount anyway.
Can you imagine what a difference it would make to our ministry if every person who reads and watches our material prayed for us, fasted for us, and donated towards us? Simply praying and fasting alone would have a massive impact on us and would only enhance our ability to produce articles filled with even greater spiritual blessings—and you would be the beneficiary of this.
That is why it should rather be seen as an investment in God’s Kingdom and in your own spiritual journey with Him. If you pray, fast, and give towards us so we can bring greater fulfilment to God’s calling on our lives, you will benefit from it through the quality of articles and videos we produce.
Would you please pray about this?
And to use Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 9:7:
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
If God leads you to pray and fast for us, then please feel free to let us know. In return, we will then be able to pray for you by name.

Thank you for your support. We truly appreciate it and look forward to growing a relationship of mutual edification with you.
